Quick answer: women’s walking boots are easy to find at UK 8, with 13 shops listing them, including Cotswold Outdoor, Meindl, Scarpa, Merrell and GO Outdoors. At 9 the choice thins to a few styles. The largest women’s-labelled boot we found is a 9. At 10, 11 and 12 the only choices are unisex: Ayacucho’s Cabrera Mid to 11 and Ordesa Mid to 12, shown on Cotswold Outdoor’s women’s page. We found nothing at 13.

Walking boots stop sooner than almost any other women’s shoe type. Shoe Zone’s filter ends at 8, and Altberg’s walking models at 8.5. Meindl, Scarpa, Merrell, Mountain Warehouse and DB Wider Fit Shoes all end at 9, and GO Outdoors and Blacks had one style left at that size. Above 9, the filters on several shops look encouraging, but they do not hold up. GO Outdoors and Blacks show nothing women’s above 9, and Decathlon’s women’s list above 9 is all men’s boots. That leaves one shop and a few unisex boots, which this guide sets out plainly.

We checked each shop’s own website on 31 October 2026. Cotswold Outdoor, Decathlon, DB Wider Fit Shoes and Shoe Zone were read directly, as were GO Outdoors and Blacks at 9 and above. Meindl, Scarpa, Merrell, Altberg, Mountain Warehouse, Hotter, Pavers and JD Williams come from their own pages as shown in search results. Long Tall Sally has no dedicated walking boots on its UK site that we could find. Delivery and returns terms were read on 30 October. We did not check prices, and availability changes daily.

GO Outdoors and Blacks are counted at 8 and 9 and show nothing above 9. “Not checked” means we did not record that detail. Buying big walking boots: what we learned

Above 9, look at what a filter actually holds

Decathlon’s ladies hiking boots filter reaches UK 13, but every item at 10 and above was titled Mens, such as the Ravine, Jaguar Mid and Quadra II. Blacks’ filter shows 10, 12 and 13, and all three are the Magnum Classic 6 Lace Work Boots, described as men’s. An item labelled men’s does not count on our pages, so none of these appears as a source.

Many boots at 9 list the size but cannot be bought

GO Outdoors and Blacks list several boots at 9, including the Merrell Moab III, Meindl Bhutan and adidas Terrex Anylander, but all of those were sold out at 9 when we read their store data. Only the Peter Storm Women’s Buxton was available. Decathlon’s boots at 9 came from outside sellers, so its usual terms may not apply.

Wide fits

Altberg’s Fremington Lady comes in five width fittings to 8.5. DB Wider Fit Shoes has 2E-4E and 6E-8E to 9, Mountain Warehouse the Mcleod Wide Fit to 9 and the Direction Wide Fit to 8, and Meindl the Terlan Lady GTX Wide Fit, though we did not read its sizes. As shown in search results, Meindl names the Meran Lady GTX for slightly wider feet.

Half sizes

Meindl’s ladies models have half sizes, including 8.5, and so does the Mcleod Wide Fit. Cotswold Outdoor’s filter lists 8.5 and 10.5, the latter with a few boots. Above that we found none.

Unisex boots at 10 to 12

The Ayacucho Cabrera Mid and Ordesa Mid are unisex, shown on Cotswold Outdoor’s women’s walking boots page. We picked each at its largest size and got a delivery date. Altberg’s All Year Round and Malham list 3 to 14 without saying ladies or unisex, as shown in search results, so we do not count them. Only Altberg can say whether either is made for women, and made-to-order items take 8 to 16 weeks.

Check returns before you wear them outside

Scarpa’s returns are free within 60 days, but boots used outdoors cannot go back. Altberg gives 14 days and does not refund postage. GO Outdoors and Blacks take returns free to a store, or from £3 by post, within 28 days. Cotswold Outdoor’s are at your cost unless faulty, as shown in search results.

The largest women's-labelled walking boot we found is UK 9. Above that, the only boots we found under a women's heading are unisex: Ayacucho's Cabrera Mid to 11 and Ordesa Mid to 12, at Cotswold Outdoor.

Why does a women's filter show sizes above 9 if there are no women's boots?

Because other items sit in the list. Decathlon's ladies hiking list at 10 to 13 held only boots titled men's, and Blacks' filter shows a men's Magnum work boot at 10, 12 and 13.

Do GO Outdoors or Blacks have women's walking boots above size 9?

No. GO Outdoors' collection shows nothing above 9. Blacks' only items above 9 are a work boot described as men's. At 9 both had one style available, the Peter Storm Women's Buxton Waterproof Mid.
