Large Boots for Women: UK Size 8 to 13

Quick answer: at UK 8 and 9 you can choose from 22 shops, in ankle, Chelsea and knee-high boots, with wide fits and calf sizes. Nine is where most of the high street stops. At 10 to 12, boots of their own come from Long Tall Sally, Crispins Shoes and Otto and Ivy, with ASOS DESIGN and After 8 Shoes up to 11, while Dr. Martens’ are unisex. At 13 we found a few Long Tall Sally boots and unisex Dr. Martens, and no wide fit.

Large women’s boots run out in steps. Up to 9 you can shop almost anywhere, in almost any style. At 9, Simply Be, JD Williams, Hotter, Pavers, DB Wider Fit Shoes, Cosyfeet, Dune London and Clarks all end, and Marks and Spencer’s own brand has already gone. At 10, the E and EEE fittings end. At 11 and 12, the high street’s boots are largely one range, Long Tall Sally’s, or unisex. By 13 there are a few styles left. This guide covers ankle, Chelsea, knee-high and riding boots. We checked each shop’s own website on 31 October 2026, using boot listings, size filters, store data, product pages and size guides. Many high street sites would not open for us, so much of what we say about 8 and 9 comes from their own pages as shown in search results, and we say so on each size page. Long Tall Sally, Yours, Evans, Next and ASOS were read in a browser at their largest sizes, and Next refused further reads part way through. Very refused too, and its size filter had shown items not available in that size, so we have left it out at 10 and above. After 8 Shoes and Otto and Ivy label boots in EU sizes, so their UK sizes are often our reading. Delivery and returns terms were read on 30 October. We did not check prices, and availability changes daily.

Each size guide compares the shops that list boots in that size, with widths, calf fits, and EU and US sizes from the shops’ own charts.

• Size 8: 22 shops, the widest choice, and the last size with Marks and Spencer’s own boots.
• Size 9: 22 shops, but the last size for most of them, including Super Curvy knee-highs and 6E fittings.

Buying big boots: what we learned

Read whether a boot is women’s or unisex

Dr. Martens’ size guide sets women’s sizes at 3 to 9 and unisex at 3 to 12, so above 9 its boots are unisex even under a women’s heading, on its own site and at Marks and Spencer, ASOS and Next. At ASOS’s largest size every boot was Dr. Martens, nearly all titled unisex. We do not count items labelled men’s, and some filters hold them: Clarks’ women’s filter shows only men’s items above 9, and Cosyfeet’s mixed boots page at 11 is all men’s.

Most boots at 12 and 13 are one brand

Long Tall Sally, Yours Clothing and Evans share a catalogue, and Next lists Long Tall Sally’s boots. So four shops at 12 and 13 can mean one range. If you have found a boot you like, compare delivery and returns rather than hunting for another version of it. Crispins Shoes and Otto and Ivy are the only others with boots of their own at 12, and both stop there.

Knee-highs and wide calves

Knee-highs are easy to find up to 9, and Marks and Spencer’s stop there, apart from Hunter wellies. Above 9, Long Tall Sally is the main source, up to 13, and Yours’ knee-high range goes to 10. For calves, DuoBoots gives eight sizes in centimetres, up to UK 10, and Simply Be and JD Williams use Curvy and Super Curvy, up to 9. Yours has an XL calf range, and its chart puts figures on it: at UK 10, 430 mm for E and 474 mm for EEE.

Ankle and Chelsea boots go furthest

Above 10, ankle and Chelsea boots are the easier shapes to find. After 8 Shoes has its Leila and Lourdes Chelsea boots at UK 11, ASOS DESIGN ankle and Chelsea styles at 10, and Long Tall Sally a kitten heel Chelsea boot right up to 13. Dr. Martens’ 2976 Chelsea boot reaches 13 at ASOS.

Wide feet

The widest labelled fittings we found were DB Wider Fit Shoes’ 6E-8E and Cosyfeet’s boots of about 6E, both ending at 9. Simply Be, JD Williams, Hotter and Pavers also stop at 9. Yours and Evans list E and EEE to 10, with fewer styles at 10 and some EEE stopping at 9. Above 10 there is very little, and Evans’ extra wide page saying 13EEE, as shown in search results, is not borne out by what it lists.

Check what a filter is showing

Shoe Zone’s boots filter runs to 12, but 10 to 12 hold one unisex snow boot. ASOS’s lists from 10 upwards include Hunter wellingtons, and at 12 they make up about half. Marks and Spencer’s boots category includes shoes such as the Dr. Martens 1461 Oxford. Add a style filter, or read each title.

Go by foot length, not the EU number

A UK 10 is EU 43 at Long Tall Sally, Yours and DuoBoots, EU 44 at Next and Crispins, and EU 45 at Dr. Martens. At 12 the labels run from EU 45 to EU 47. Long Tall Sally’s chart gives foot lengths from 262 mm at 8 to 304 mm at 13, and Dr. Martens’ from 27 cm to 32 cm. Those were the only two charts we recorded that cover all six sizes.

Returns differ a lot

Cosyfeet gives 90 days for free UK returns, and Very, Simply Be and JD Williams give 28 free days, each with its own conditions. Dr. Martens’ product pages offer 30-day free returns. Shoe Zone takes unworn boots back for 12 months, free to a store or £2.50 by post. Crispins Shoes gives 14 days at your cost, Otto and Ivy deducts £5, and Hotter deducts £2.95.
