At 10 the true flip-flops are Havaianas’ women’s Slim as 43/44, Crocs’ Crocband Flip, on its own site and at ASOS, and one Next style. Flip-flops run out early on women’s pages. Most high street ranges stop at 8 or 9, and much of what is left at 9 is a toe-post sandal rather than a true flip-flop. Above 10 the list is a handful of single styles, and by 12 the one true flip-flop is a unisex Havaianas. We count toe-post and thong sandals, and name them as toe posts. We do not count slides, because they are a different shoe, even when shops file them under the same filters: adidas slides appear on women’s pages at Next up to 12 and at ASOS at 13. This guide shows which is which at every size, and what is women’s and what is unisex.
We checked each shop’s own website on 31 October 2026: flip-flop and toe-post filters, product pages, size grids at Long Tall Sally, and store data at Crispins Shoes. Next and Very refused further reads part way through, so their details are what we saw before that. Havaianas’ size chart is an image, so the UK sizes we give for it rest on search result text and our 30 October read. Joules and part of Shoe Zone’s range were also read through search results. Delivery and returns terms were read on 30 or 31 October. We did not check prices, and availability changes daily.

The Top, which its own page calls a core unisex style, sits on the same women's page and is listed to 47/48. We confirmed 45/46 as available, charted as UK 12/13, so that is the largest we count. Its site banner offers free delivery over £50, and we did not read the charge below that. Returns within 30 days must be unworn and unwashed with tags, and £4.90 is deducted for a drop-off return or £7.00 for a home pickup.

Crispins Shoes
Crispins' large-size women's sandals hold the women's styles that go furthest. It has the Gabor Spiritual toe post in black at 8 and in white at 9 and 12, and a flat thong sandal, the Diamonte Rosso Hawaii in tan, at 11. No toe post was available at 10, and the other toe-post styles we checked were sold out in every size. Treat these as last pairs rather than a range. Standard delivery is £6.50, free over £250. UK returns within 14 days must be unworn, and they are at your cost, as it offers no free return service.

ASOS shows a Crocs Crocband Flip in black under women's sandals, from a joint 8-9 up to 11, though we did not read how it labels the 11. At 12 it was sold out. The seller and shipper is Gardiner Bros, so check the terms on the page. We did not read ASOS's other flip-flops at 8. ASOS's own delivery is £4.50, free over £40 or with Premier. Its returns within 28 days are free for account holders under its Fair Use Policy, and £3.95 for guest orders.

Crocs' Crocband Flip has a Women's UK size tab from 4 to 10, in whole sizes only, with a separate Men's tab that we did not read. It sits on the shop's women's flip-flops page. We did not open Crocs' other flips, so 10 is the top of this one style. UK delivery is £4.95, and product pages offer free delivery from £39.99, though its FAQ gives no threshold. Returns within 30 days of delivery are free with a prepaid Royal Mail label, except final sale items.

Gizeh and Mayari thong sandals list 8 and 9, though we could not read availability by size. Above 9 its labels are half sizes, 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5, with no whole 10 or 11, so it counts at 8 and 9 only. The Shop By Size menu we read also stops at 9, although that was the outlet menu and we did not open the others. Standard delivery is free over £99, and we did not read the charge below that. It listed a few from White Stuff, Teva, Crocs and REEF at 8, none its own brand, and a few from Teva, Crocs and REEF at 9. JD Williams’ filters match Simply Be’s, with FitFlop, Melissa and Rocket Dog styles at 8 and wide toe posts to 9. Office and Shoe Zone reach 9, and Very has one wide fit thong wedge there. Joules, Pavers, Long Tall Sally, Yours and Evans stop at 8, as our size 8 guide shows. Clarks’ sliders and flip-flops page holds items at 8, but we could not confirm a toe post among them, so it is not in the table. DB Wider Fit Shoes showed no toe post in the part of its list we read, and Otto and Ivy and After 8 Shoes have none in their sandal collections.

Buying big flip-flops: what we learned
Flip-flop, toe post or slide
We treat flip-flops and toe posts as one family and say which is which. Birkenstock’s Gizeh and Mayari, FitFlop’s Lulu, Shoe Zone’s Lilley styles and Crispins’ Gabor Spiritual are toe posts. Slides do not count, however a shop files them. Next’s Flip Flop filter also tags a few mules and sliders, and Simply Be gives sliders a filter of their own.
Women’s-labelled or unisex
Up to 10 nearly everything we list sits in a women’s range. Above that the label gets thin. Havaianas’ women’s Slim stops at 43/44, and what lies above is the Top, which its own page calls a core unisex style. The Crocband Flip at ASOS at 11 sits under women’s sandals, but Crocs’ own Women’s tab stops at 10, and we did not read how ASOS labels that size. Crispins Shoes lists large-size women’s sandals, so its thong sandal at 11 and toe post at 12 are the women’s styles that go furthest. An item labelled men’s never counts here.
Doubled sizes at Havaianas
Havaianas sizes come in pairs, and its chart is an image that we read through search results. One list gives 41/42 as UK 8.5/9, 43/44 as 10/11, 45/46 as 12/13 and 47/48 as 14/15, and our 30 October read agrees. A second list on another product page gives about 7.5/8, 9/10 and 11/12 for 41/42 to 45/46. The two differ by one UK size, so use the shop’s own chart. UK 8 sits between rows on the first list, and 11 and 13 are the top half of a doubled size.
Wide and narrow fits
Wide fits in this type are toe posts. Simply Be and JD Williams list them in Wide (E) and Extra Wide (EEE) to 9, and Long Tall Sally, Yours and Evans share the Yours Woven Toe Post at 8EEE. Next has a Vionic Eva at 9, and Very a wide fit thong wedge. Birkenstock’s filter offers regular and narrow. Above 9 we could not confirm a wide fit: Next’s one style at 10 is Standard Fit, and we recorded no fit for anything above that.
Listed, but not there to buy
Some sizes exist on paper only. The White Woven Toe Post lists 9EEE and 10EEE, but both were sold out at Long Tall Sally, Yours and Evans. ASOS’s Crocband Flip was sold out at 12, and Pavers had only an 8 left on its navy Skechers toe post. We count none of the sold-out sizes, so check that yours can be picked before you plan around a pair.
Filters that mislead
Choosing Flip Flop at size 9 at Simply Be or JD Williams falls back to the whole sandal list, and Very’s filter does the same at 10. Next’s filter at 11 and 12 returned nothing, leaving adidas slides. Very’s sandal filter at 11 to 13 showed adidas sliders whose product pages stop at 8. If a list looks long at a large size, read the titles. Schuh’s sale filters show sizes to 12 in search results, but we could not read the shop, so it is not in our table.
Half sizes are rare
Crocs lists whole sizes only. Birkenstock’s labels above 9 are 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5, and it has no whole 10 or 11. Havaianas’ doubled sizes are a system of their own. We did not read half sizes at the other shops.
Returns differ a lot
FitFlop’s returns and exchanges are free, though we did not read the window, and Birkenstock’s page offers free returns within 30 days. Crocs’ are free within 30 days, except final sale items.
