Safety boots divide sharply at 9. Up to that size there are boots labelled for women. Above 9 there are none that we could find, and if you take a 10 or larger, your choice is a unisex boot. That does not mean the choice is poor. Toolstation’s unisex pages and Amblers Safety’s range hold many styles at 10 to 13, from waterproof lace-ups to dealer and hi-leg boots. But you will need to look under unisex rather than women’s, and you should expect women’s filters to go quiet: at Screwfix, Workwear Gurus and Toolstation’s Womens pages they have nothing to show above 9.

We checked each shop’s own website on 31 October 2026. Amblers Safety, Toolstation and Workwear Gurus were read directly, and Screwfix’s women’s filter was read in a browser at 9 to 13. Arco’s filter was read directly, but its products come from its own pages as shown in search results, as do Screwfix’s boots at 8. Delivery and returns terms were read on 30 October, and Workwear Gurus’ and Screwfix’s come from their own pages as shown in search results. We did not check prices, and availability changes daily.

Each size guide lists the styles we found at that size, and says which are women’s-labelled and which are unisex.

• Size 8: 5 shops, and the last size for Rock Fall’s and Site’s women’s boots.
• Size 9: 5 shops, and the last size for women’s-labelled boots, some of them few.
• Size 10: 3 shops, unisex only, with 10.5 on many Amblers styles.
• Size 11: 3 shops, unisex only.

Buying large safety boots: what we learned

Women’s or unisex

Amblers Safety shows unisex boots under its Womens collection, so a size filter there can look like a women’s range. Its women-only Sophie Collection stops at 9. Toolstation keeps them apart, with Womens and Unisex pages. A Toolstation FAQ, as shown in search results, says that for larger sizes its unisex or men’s ranges offer alternatives. We list unisex boots only: anything labelled men’s is left out.

Shops that will not help above 9

Workwear Gurus’ filter stops at 9. Screwfix’s women’s filter shows only non-safety wellies at 10 to 12. Shoe Zone’s women’s safety list has no safety boot at all, only a Skechers Workwear slip-in and a unisex EarthWorks safety trainer. CAT’s own UK shop has no safety-toe footwear, though Arco lists the CAT Mae Women’s, and Dr. Martens’ UK work range is slip-resistant, with no safety toe.

Shops show the code in different ways. Arco’s names include it, as in the Arco Essentials Black Waterproof S3 and CAT Mae Women’s Honey S3. Amblers’ AS803 Broad is titled S3 SRC. Toolstation’s page for the Amblers AS335 Moorfoot states “EN ISO 20345:2011 S3 M SRC”. Amblers’ own titles for its FS128 dealer boot showed only SRC on 30 October, and Workwear Gurus lists that boot among its women’s safety boots, so read the code before you rely on it. We did not check every boot’s rating, so ask what your job requires.

Wide fits and half sizes

Most boots here are standard fit. Amblers’ AS803 Broad is a wide fit boot that runs to 14, Toolstation’s women’s list had a Wide Fit on very few boots, and Arco’s Foot Width filter offers Regular and Wide. Amblers has 6.5 and 10.5 on many styles, and 11.5 and 12.5 on one style each. None of the Amblers styles we read had 8.5 or 9.5.

Returns need more thought than usual

Amblers Safety does not offer free returns or exchanges, so you return at your cost and reorder. Toolstation charges £9 to collect an unwanted item. Arco may charge a restocking fee, and its page does not say who pays the postage. As shown in search results, Screwfix’s returns are free under its 30-day guarantee, with some items excluded, and Workwear Gurus charges £4.95 for its label.

Does Screwfix have women's safety boots above size 9?
