Wide Fit Shoes for Women: UK Fittings and How Far They Run

Quick answer: most women’s wide fittings stop at UK 9 or 10. Long Tall Sally, Yours and Evans share a catalogue with Wide E and Extra Wide EEE to 10, thin at 10. Simply Be, JD Williams, DB Wider Fit Shoes, Hotter and Pavers have little or nothing above 9. Above 10 we found only odd pieces: Otto and Ivy’s wide pages, labelled to 46W, which we read as UK 12, a few Wide styles at Next on 30 October, one Long Tall Sally Wide Fit pump at Very whose page says sizes 7 – 13, Lace and Favour’s EEE Melanie court listing to 11, Cosyfeet’s unisex Rowan slipper to 13, and Amblers’ unisex AS803 Broad safety boot to 14. Evans’ extra wide page says 13EEE, and its own lists do not bear that out.

Wide fit and large size pull in opposite directions. The shops with a real choice of E and EEE thin out around 9, and the ranges that reach 12 and 13 are mostly Standard Fit. So a woman who needs both length and width has to know exactly where the two overlap, and it is a smaller area than shop headings suggest. The letters do not help as much as they should either, because a D, an EE or an Extra Wide means different things at different shops. This guide sets out what each shop calls its fittings, how far each one runs, and the width and girth figures shops publish.
We read wide sandals and slippers at most of these shops on 31 October 2026, and wide fittings on shoes, heels and trainers on 30 October, from filters, product names and size guides. Girth and width figures come from charts read on 30 October, and Dr. Martens’ from its size guide. We did not read Hotter’s, Pavers’, Clarks’ or Shoe Zone’s wide pages on 31 October, or Simply Be’s width guide, and we found no Cosyfeet chart. Next and Very refused further reads part way through. Delivery and returns terms were read on 30 or 31 October. We did not check prices, and availability changes daily.

The largest wide size is the biggest we could confirm for a shoe with a wide fitting, on a women’s page. Standard Fit shoes at larger sizes do not count here. Otto and Ivy labels sizes in EU, so its UK size is our reading. “Not checked” means we did not record that detail. Delivery and returns are the standard UK terms read on 30 or 31 October 2026, as shown in search results where marked.
The shops in more detail
Yours
Yours builds its size filter around fittings, so 9, 9E and 9EEE are separate options. Sandals run to 10E and 10EEE, slippers to 10E, and some EEE boots stop at 9. Ranges at 10E and 10EEE are far smaller than at 8 and 9. There is no 11E or 11EEE, and plain sizes 11 to 13 are Long Tall Sally's Standard Fit. Its chart gives joint figures to 10. Delivery is free from £40 (£2.99 below), and returns within 28 days are free in store or £1.99 by drop-off or collection through its returns portal.

Long Tall Sally
Long Tall Sally's filter has Wide E and Extra Wide EEE values from 4E to 10E and 4EEE to 10EEE, but the wide items are Yours brand. Its own brand is Standard Fit, right up to 13. Wide fittings are separate sizes, such as 10E, so a plain 10 shows Standard Fit only. On trainers the wide run is shorter, at 9E and 10EEE, with no 10E. Delivery is free from £40 (£2.99 below), and returns within 28 days are free in store or £1.99 by drop-off or collection through its returns portal.

Evans
Evans calls its fittings Wide E and Extra Wide EEE, and shows the same shared catalogue, with sandals to 10E and 10EEE and heels to 10E and 9EEE. Plain 11 to 13 are Long Tall Sally's Standard Fit. Read the section below on its 13EEE claim before you trust the page text. Delivery is free from £40 (£2.99 below), and returns within 28 days are free to a Yours store or £1.99 by drop-off or collection through its returns portal.

Simply Be
Simply Be's width filter has Slim, Standard, Wide and Extra Wide, and product names say Wide Fit (E) and Extra Wide Fit (EEE). At 9 most of its shoes are wide or extra wide, which makes it one of the strongest choices at that size. At 10 the Wide option goes and a few Paradox London EEE courts are left. Its sandal and slipper filters run higher, but real sandals and slippers stop at 9. Delivery is £4.99. Returns within 28 days are free through its own options, though exceptions apply and other carriers are at your cost.

JD Williams
JD Williams' width filter has Standard, Wide and Extra Wide, on the same catalogue as Simply Be. Most of its shoes at 9 are wide or extra wide, and its boots add Curvy and Super Curvy calf widths, as shown in search results. Size 10 is Extra Wide only, a few Paradox London courts. Standard delivery is £3.99, and returns within 28 days are free through its own return options.

DB Wider Fit Shoes
DB's fittings are the widest labelled of any shop we read: 2E-4E (2V), 4E, 6E and 6E-8E (6V), style by style. Removable insoles change the depth on some boots. Women's sandals, slippers and boots all stop at 9, so this helps width far more than length. Standard delivery is £6 up to 4 kg, with no free threshold listed. UK returns within 30 days are free by Royal Mail with the label sent, other couriers are at your cost, shoes must be unworn and unmarked, and cut straps cannot go back.

Cosyfeet
Cosyfeet describes its range as Extra Wide Footwear, with an Extra Extra Roomy collection and no E letters on the pages we read, although its boots are about 6E. Women's sandals and slippers run to 9, the Paradise reaches 10, and the unisex Rowan slipper reaches 13. Its page says the Rowan is for exceptional swelling or heavy bandaging, so it is not a general slipper. Delivery is £5.75 per order, and UK returns are free within 90 days.

Otto and Ivy
Otto and Ivy marks a wider fitting with a W, such as 43W or 44W, and its size pages run to Size 12 Wide Fit, Euro 46W. It labels sizes in EU, so the UK size is our reading. Check the sizing on the product page. We read stock at wide sizes for sandals only, where 43W and 44W were available. Delivery is tracked from a UK warehouse, charges not shown on the page we read. Returns within 30 days have £5 deducted from the refund, with one free size exchange per UK order.

Next
Next's fit filter has Standard, Wide and X Wide, and it had a few Wide shoes at 11 and a single wide item at 12 on 30 October. X Wide had gone by 10 on shoes, though Yours Curve sandals reach 10 in Wide and Extra Wide. Its filter at 13 names a Long Tall Sally Blue Wide-Fit pump, which is a filter reading, as Next refused further reads. Next-day delivery is £4.95, or free to a store, and returns within 28 days are free in store or £2.50 by post.

Very
Very's fitting filter has Standard, Wide and Extra Wide, with sandals at 9 mostly from Yours and The Very Collection. Above that we count only what a product page showed, because its filter has listed items in sizes they do not reach. That is one shoe: Long Tall Sally Wide Fit Ballerina Pumps (Black), with a page saying sizes 7 - 13. We read no stock by size. Delivery is £3.99, free from £75, and returns are free within 28 days if unused and in the original packaging.

ASOS’s sandals filter also shows a UK 13 Wide value, which we did not read, so we do not count it.
What shops call their fittings
| Shop | Standard | Wide | Extra wide | Beyond that |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Long Tall Sally, Yours, Evans | Standard Fit | Wide E Fit | Extra Wide EEE Fit | None listed |
| Simply Be, JD Williams | D Standard | E Wide | EEE Extra Wide | EE Wide Plus and EEEEE Ultra Wide in the size guide |
| Clarks | D Standard Fit | E Wide Fit | EE Extra Wide Fit | None listed |
| Marks and Spencer | Standard (D) | Wide Fit (E) | None seen | None seen |
| Hotter | Standard Fit | Wide Fit | Extra Wide Fit, also known as EEE | None listed |
| Next | Standard | Wide | X Wide | None listed |
| Otto and Ivy | Plain size, such as 44 | W, such as 44W | None seen | None seen |
| New Balance | Standard (B) | Wide (D) | X-Wide (2E) | XX-Wide (4E) |
| ASICS | Standard B | Wide D | Extra Wide 2E | None listed |
| Brooks | Medium (1B) | Wide (1D) | Extra wide (2E) | None listed |
| HOKA | Regular | Wide | X-Wide | None listed |
| Skechers | Medium | Wide (W or D) | EWW, its Extra Wide Fit Collection | None listed |
Two shops do not fit those columns, so we give them in their own words. DB Wider Fit Shoes uses 2E-4E (2V), 4E, 6E and 6E-8E (6V), style by style. Cosyfeet calls its range Extra Wide Footwear, with an Extra Extra Roomy collection and no E letters on the pages we read, although its boots are about 6E.
Three traps sit in that table. D is Standard at Clarks, Simply Be, JD Williams and Marks and Spencer, but it is Wide at New Balance, ASICS, Brooks and Skechers, which use a separate women’s scale with B as the standard fit. EE is Extra Wide at Clarks, and only Wide Plus at Simply Be, whose Extra Wide is EEE. And Marks and Spencer labels some sizes E (Narrow Fit), which conflicts with its own guide, where E is Wide. So read a fitting together with the shop’s own chart, not as a letter on its own.
Evans’ 13EEE: which to trust
Evans’ extra wide page says 4 to 13EEE, as shown in search results. We do not rely on that, and our reasons come from what Evans itself lists. Its sandals stop at 10E and 10EEE, its heels filter runs to 10E and 9EEE, and its boots stop at 10E, as shown in search results. At 11 and 12 its lists were all Long Tall Sally in Standard Fit, even on a page titled Women’s Size 11 Wide Fit Shoes. At 13, its all-shoes list held only Long Tall Sally shoes in Standard Fit. Elsewhere its own title says UK 4-9E. We trust the size filters and the fit named on each product, which agree with each other, over a headline that disagrees even with Evans’ other headlines. Yours’ guide has the same problem, saying standard, E and EEE fits in sizes 4 to 13. Its size filter does run to 13, but its E and EEE sizes stop at 10.
How far wide fit runs, size by size
- Size 8: the best size for wide fit. Yours, Evans, Simply Be, JD Williams, Next and Very have Wide and Extra Wide, and Clarks has E, with EE on the Georgia Loafer and Matron Ella Ankle Boot. It is the top of Marks and Spencer’s and Shoe Zone’s wide ranges.
- Size 9: still strong. Most of Simply Be’s and JD Williams’ size 9 shoes are wide or extra wide, and DB Wider Fit Shoes and Hotter reach here and stop. Marks and Spencer has no Wide fit at 9.
- Size 10: the turning point. Yours and Evans have far fewer styles at 10E and 10EEE. Simply Be and JD Williams have Extra Wide only, a few courts, with no Wide. Next has Wide and no X Wide on shoes, and ASOS has UK 10 Wide on ASOS DESIGN heels.
- Size 11: Long Tall Sally, Yours and Evans are Standard Fit only, as there is no 11E or 11EEE. Next had a few Wide styles on 30 October. Lace and Favour’s EEE Melanie court lists to 11, with stock per size not shown. New Balance lists D, 2E and 4E, mostly on unisex shoes.
- Size 12: Next had a single wide item on 30 October. Otto and Ivy has a page for Size 12 Wide Fit, Euro 46W, and we read stock at wide sizes for sandals only. New Balance’s size 12 shoes are unisex, in D and 2E.
- Size 13: no fitting we could confirm on stock. Very’s page for Long Tall Sally Wide Fit Ballerina Pumps says sizes 7 – 13, and Next’s filter reading names a Long Tall Sally Blue Wide-Fit pump. Long Tall Sally’s own filter at 13 showed Standard Fit only. Two unisex items reach this size or beyond, with stock at 13 not read: Cosyfeet’s Rowan slipper to 13 and Amblers’ AS803 Broad safety boot to 14, both covered by type of shoe below.
Wide fit by type of shoe
- Boots: as shown in search results, Yours and Evans run to 10 in E, with some EEE styles stopping at 9. Simply Be and JD Williams reach 9, with Curvy and Super Curvy calf widths, also in search results. Otto and Ivy has 44W on the Evelyn and Marnie, and 46W on one boot.
- Flats: as shown in search results, Yours has ballet pumps in 10E and 10EEE, low in stock, and loafers in 10E. Otto and Ivy has 43W on the Bonnie, Harriet and Penny.
- Heels: the shared catalogue reaches 10E and 9EEE. A few Paradox London EEE courts at Simply Be and JD Williams reach 10.
- Smart and wedding shoes: Lace and Favour’s Perfect Bridal Melanie, EEE wide fit, lists UK 3 to 11, with stock per size not shown. Sargasso and Grey reaches UK 9.5, with many styles in EE.
- Sandals: Long Tall Sally, Yours and Evans have a few at 10E and 10EEE. Next’s wide sandals at 10 are a Yours Curve style and one Next mule, and Cosyfeet’s Paradise reaches 10.
- Flip-flops and toe posts: Simply Be, JD Williams and Next have wide toe posts at 9, and we could not confirm one above that.
- Slippers: Yours’ embroidered mules reach 10E, with no 10EEE. DB and Cosyfeet’s women’s styles reach 9, and Cosyfeet’s unisex Rowan reaches 13, built for exceptional swelling or heavy bandaging.
- Trainers: Yours-brand trainers on Long Tall Sally’s site reach 9E and 10EEE. Skechers’ Wide fit gets very limited at 9 and 10. Next’s filter at 13 names a Converse Chuck Taylor All Star High Wide Fit, not opened.
- Walking boots: DB reaches 9, and Mountain Warehouse’s Mcleod Womens Wide Fit lists 3 to 9.
- Safety boots: Amblers’ AS803 Broad Wide Fit runs to 14. It is unisex, shown under its Womens collection.
- Golf shoes: Foremost’s filter has a Wide fit, and FootJoy’s offers wider fittings, as shown in search results. We recorded no fitting at 10 or above.
The girth and width charts shops publish
Girth means the distance round the foot, and width means straight across it, so the two tables below cannot be compared with each other. Each chart is for that shop’s own shoes and does not apply to another shop’s stock.
| UK size | Long Tall Sally joint (one figure) | Yours joint, E | Yours joint, EEE | Marks and Spencer, D | Marks and Spencer, E |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | 246 mm | 252 mm | 264 mm | 256 mm | 265 mm |
| 9 | 252 mm | 258 mm | 270 mm | 262 mm | 272 mm |
| 10 | 258 mm | 264 mm | 276 mm | Not recorded | Not recorded |
| 11 | 264 mm | Not recorded | Not recorded | Not recorded | Not recorded |
| 12 | 270 mm | Not recorded | Not recorded | Not recorded | Not recorded |
Long Tall Sally gives one joint figure and does not say which fitting it is for. Yours’ EEE is 12 mm more than its E at each size, and its instep figures run from 248 mm for an 8 in E to 266 mm for a 10 in EEE. Marks and Spencer heads its column Width (mm), and says to wrap a tape round the widest part of the foot, so it is a girth despite the name. Its Wide adds 9 or 10 mm to Standard. Simply Be’s and JD Williams’ size guides give what they call foot widths of 210, 216, 222, 228 and 241 mm for D, E, EE, EEE and EEEEE, with no shoe size attached, so they cannot be read against a UK size. Those figures look to us like distances round the foot, which is our reading and not the shops’ wording, so they cannot be compared with the HOKA and New Balance widths below.
| UK size | New Balance B | New Balance D | New Balance 2E | HOKA Regular | HOKA Wide | Dr. Martens |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | 9.2 cm | 9.6 cm | 9.9 cm | 96 mm | 102 mm | 9.5 cm |
| 9 | 9.4 cm | 9.8 cm | 10.1 cm | 98 mm | 104 mm | 9.7 cm |
| 10 | 9.6 cm | 10.0 cm | 10.3 cm | 100 mm | 106 mm | 9.9 cm |
| 11 | 9.8 cm | 10.2 cm | 10.5 cm | Not recorded | Not recorded | 10.1 cm |
| 12 | Not recorded | Not recorded | Not recorded | Not recorded | Not recorded | 10.3 cm |
| 13 | Not recorded | Not recorded | Not recorded | Not recorded | Not recorded | 10.6 cm |
Those are foot widths from each brand’s chart. New Balance’s women’s width chart ends at 11. Nike’s women’s chart gives no width table in our notes, but says wide shoes have about 6.35 mm more toe-box girth than regular, and extra wide about 1.7 cm more. We read no figures at Cosyfeet, DB Wider Fit Shoes, Next or Very.

Frequently asked questions
What does an E fitting mean?
At Clarks, Simply Be, JD Williams and Marks and Spencer, D is standard and E is wide. Yours' chart gives a joint of 252 mm at UK 8 in E.
What is the difference between EE and EEE?
It depends on the shop. EE is Extra Wide at Clarks and Wide Plus at Simply Be, where Extra Wide is EEE. Check the shop's own chart.
What is the largest women's wide fit size in the UK?
We could confirm E and EEE to 10 at Yours and Evans. Otto and Ivy's wide pages run to Euro 46W, which we read as UK 12, with stock read at wide sizes for sandals only. Single leads go further: Lace and Favour's EEE Melanie court lists to 11, Cosyfeet's unisex Rowan slipper reaches 13, and Amblers' unisex AS803 Broad safety boot runs to 14.
Does Evans really go up to 13EEE?
We do not think so. Its extra wide page says it does, but its sandals stop at 10EEE and its heels at 9EEE, and what it lists at 11 to 13 is Standard Fit.
Which shop has the widest fitting?
Of the shops we read, DB Wider Fit Shoes has the widest labels, up to 6E-8E (6V), but only to UK 9.
Do trainer brands use the same letters?
No. D is Wide at New Balance, ASICS and Brooks, where B is standard. At Clarks and Simply Be D is standard.
Can I get wide fit shoes in size 11?
Barely. Long Tall Sally, Yours and Evans are Standard Fit only at 11. Next had a few Wide styles on 30 October, and Lace and Favour's EEE Melanie court lists to 11.
Shops were checked on their own websites on 30 and 31 October 2026, and delivery and returns terms on 30 or 31 October 2026. Where we say so, details come from a shop’s own pages as shown in search results. We did not check Amazon UK’s listings.
