Quick answer: at UK 12 four shops count. Every item in Pro:Direct’s women’s filter was adidas when we checked, with F50 Sparkfusion boots at League, Pro and Elite levels. Lovell Soccer has a few, and its F50 Sparkfusion Pro could be ordered while the League was sold out. Nike’s Mercurial and Phantom boots are shown under Nike’s women’s filter, with no gender label on the card. Mizuno’s Monarcida Neo III Select is labelled Unisex. Sports Direct’s page at 12 is unclear, so it does not count.

Three of the four shops in this table end at 12 or just after it, so this is close to the top of the road for football boots on a women’s page. Brand choice has narrowed too. Pro:Direct’s women’s boots at 12 are all adidas, and adidas is also the boot we can name at Lovell Soccer. That does not make it a poor size. Pro:Direct’s list is longer than you might expect, and it gives you three levels of the same boot. What has gone is the easy option of shopping around for one boot: the League that three shops listed at 11 is sold out at Lovell here, and doubtful at Sports Direct.

Women’s-labelled means the product title says Womens. Lovell’s filter also holds untitled adidas and Puma items at 12, which we did not open. Pro:Direct’s sizes have no UK label on the page, and we read them as UK. “Not checked” means we did not record that detail. Why Sports Direct is not in the table

Sports Direct lists a boot at 12, but we can’t tell you whose it is. An adidas F50 Sparkfusion League page in Ftwr White/Iron has a title that says Womens, while its address and its links say Mens. An item labelled men’s never counts here, so we leave it out until someone can check. The women’s boot we could confirm there, in Purple/Lemon, ends at 11, as our size 11 football boots guide shows.

What 12.5 means here

Lovell Soccer’s women’s filter runs to 12.5, with one product at that size, which we did not open. Pro:Direct’s filter ends at 12, and its League shows halves to 11.5. Mizuno’s half sizes end at 10.5. Nike’s soft-ground Tiempo Maestro Elite goes from 12 straight to 13 on its size menu, read on 30 October. So a 12.5 is a single lead rather than a size you can plan on.

• Puma: its women’s filter ends at 9.
• Sports Direct: the Purple/Lemon League ends at 11.
• adidas: we could not read its own site, and search results name sizes to at least 9.
