Ten is the biggest step down for smart shoes. Half the shops at 9 have gone, and with them most of the wide fit and wedding options. What is left is good, though, if you know where to go. Crispins Shoes and After 8 Shoes are specialists in these sizes, and Long Tall Sally’s heels hold up well from 9. The catch is width: E and EEE have shrunk to a few named styles, and DB Wider Fit Shoes’ wider fittings are gone.

Crispins Shoes has the longest list of courts we found at 10. Its store data showed the BR Melo, ELA Feature, ELA Hallmark, EVA Noir, EVA Ace, HOG Olivia, PIE Geneva and PIE Path at this size. On 30 October many dressy heels and slingbacks were available too, from brands such as Elata, Brunate, Evaluna, Hogl, Gabor and Toni Pons. There is a 10.5 as well. Its labels give EU 44 and US 12.5. Otto and Ivy lists a few at 44: the Taylor slingback, and the Bibi sandal in its Bridal Edit. We did not read its heels collection. It labels shoes in EU sizes, so UK 10 is our reading: use its sizing on the product page before ordering. It offers next working day delivery to the UK, though the page we read showed no charges. Lace and Favour
Lace and Favour's Perfect Bridal Melanie is a dyeable ivory lace block heel court in EEE, listed from UK 3 to 11. It is the one wedding shoe we found at 10, and its page did not show availability by size. The page says the shoe fits large, so read its sizing notes. Standard delivery is £4.95, free over £150. A 30-day returns policy is advertised on many items, but the product page does not say this shoe is included, so ask before you order.

Who stopped at 9
Twelve shops have gone since the last size, and they include most of what a high street search turns up. Shoe Zone, Pavers, Hotter, Clarks, Office and Marks and Spencer all end at 9, as do DB Wider Fit Shoes’ courts and the wedding shops Rainbow Club and Harriet Wilde. Sargasso and Grey ends at 9.5. Cosyfeet has only the Alison and Paradise at 10, comfort styles we could not call smart. We have left Very out: its size filter showed items not available in that size, and it refused further reads.

Work and court shoes at size 10
For a closed court, Crispins Shoes is the place to start, with the widest range of names and brands. Long Tall Sally’s courts are the plain alternative, and it also lists loafers and brogues at this size, as shown in search results. After 8 Shoes’ Gala is an open court. ASOS DESIGN goes the other way, towards stilettos and slingbacks, and Next’s Forever Comfort slingbacks are the last of its own brand we saw.
Wedding and occasion shoes at size 10
The wedding specialists have all but gone. Lace and Favour’s Melanie is a lace block court in EEE, and it is dyeable, which helps if you want to match an outfit. Otto and Ivy’s Bridal Edit has the Bibi sandal at 44. Yours lists its Black Platform Court Shoes to 10E, as shown in search results, and Crispins Shoes’ Evening Shoes collection may hold more, though we read only its courts at this size.
Heel heights at size 10
Crispins Shoes’ dressy heels at 10 ran from 3.5 cm to 10 cm, most between 6 and 7.5 cm, on 30 October. Simply Be’s filter showed Medium only. Yours’ Black Croc Embossed Sling Back Heels are 2.5 inches, and ASOS labels styles as stiletto, block or kitten rather than giving a height.
How to measure your feet for size 10 smart shoes
Long Tall Sally and Yours Clothing both give 279 mm for a women’s UK 10. Marks and Spencer’s, Clarks’ and JD Williams’ women’s charts stop at 9, so they cannot help here.
- Stand with your heel to a wall on paper, in the tights or socks you plan to wear.
- Mark your longest toe and measure from the wall in millimetres, on both feet.
- Compare the longer foot with 279 mm, then check the chart of the shop you are buying from.
Width fittings at size 10
Yours Clothing’s chart gives a joint girth of 264 mm for E and 276 mm for EEE, and Long Tall Sally’s single figure is 258 mm. Fittings are thin at this size. Paradox London’s courts are EEE, Lace and Favour’s Melanie is EEE, ASOS has UK 10 Wide in ASOS DESIGN Wide Fit styles, and Yours has a few at 10E. Long Tall Sally’s shoes are Standard Fit, and Next’s heels at 10 are Standard. Otto and Ivy uses W for wider fittings, though we did not confirm one on a smart shoe at this size.
