Long Tall Sally is the reason a heeled smart shoe is possible at all, though its list is a fraction of what it holds at 11. Otto and Ivy is the welcome exception, with slingbacks and a Bridal Edit, and this is the top of its range. One oddity is worth knowing: the navy block heel court’s own text says sizes 7 to 10, while its selector shows 11 and 12.

Mostly one brand
Five shops can give the wrong idea. Long Tall Sally’s shoes appear on its own site and on Yours’ and Evans’, and Next’s few include its loafers too. Otto and Ivy is the only separate range with slingbacks here. So at 12, comparing shops mostly means comparing delivery and returns on the same shoe. Long Tall Sally, Yours and Evans have the same terms. Next’s return in store is also free, and it is the place for a Dr. Martens or Jones Bootmaker brogue if you want one.
Who stops below 12
- Crispins Shoes: none of the first 20 court shoes we read offers 12, and its dressy heels at 12 were sold out on 30 October. We did not read the rest of the list.

For work, the navy block heel court and the pointed block court are the two plain Long Tall Sally shoes we can name, and neither is a stiletto. The navy court’s heel of about 5.6 cm is the only height we recorded at this size. If a heel is out, a loafer or brogue is more realistic: Long Tall Sally has loafers, and Next lists brogues and loafers from Dr. Martens and Jones Bootmaker, though we did not read how smart each one is.
