Quick answer: at UK 8 and 9 you can choose from more than 20 shops, in court, work and wide fit wedding shoes. Half of them stop by 10. At 10 and 11 the main sources are Long Tall Sally, Crispins Shoes, After 8 Shoes, ASOS DESIGN and Otto and Ivy, and one wedding court, Lace and Favour’s Melanie, reaches 11 in EEE. At 12 most of what you will find is Long Tall Sally’s, and at 13 it is a few of its slingback and kitten heels.

This guide covers smart shoes in the widest sense: court shoes and other shoes for work, and shoes for weddings and occasions. Large sizes thin out in steps. Up to 9 the high street is with you, and so are four wide fit wedding shops. At 9, Shoe Zone, Pavers, Hotter, Clarks, Office, Marks and Spencer and DB Wider Fit Shoes all end, and Rainbow Club and Harriet Wilde with them. At 10, the E and EEE fittings shrink to a few named styles. At 11 Crispins Shoes’ courts, After 8 Shoes and ASOS all stop. By 12 and 13 smart shoes are almost entirely one brand, Long Tall Sally, shown on several sites. High heels have their own guide, linked at the end.

We checked shops’ own websites on 30 and 31 October 2026, using heels and court filters, store data, product pages and size guides. Long Tall Sally, Yours, Evans and Next were read in a browser at 13, and Next refused further reads part way through. Very refused too, and its size filter had shown items not available in that size, so we have left it out at 10 and above. Yours, Pavers, Rainbow Club and Harriet Wilde come mainly from their own pages as shown in search results, and we say so on each size page. After 8 Shoes and Otto and Ivy label shoes in EU sizes, so their UK sizes are often our reading. Delivery and returns terms were read on 30 October. We did not check prices, and availability changes daily.

The largest size is the biggest smart shoe size we could confirm at each shop, with a note where little was available. Half sizes for Next, Simply Be, JD Williams and Very come from their shoes filters. “Not checked” means we did not record that detail. Shop by size

Each size guide compares the shops that list smart shoes in that size, with widths, half sizes, and EU and US sizes from the shops’ own charts.

• Size 8: 22 shops, the last size for Marks and Spencer’s own brand and Shoe Zone’s Wide Fit.
• Size 9: 24 shops, the most at any size, and the top size for most wedding shops.
• Size 10: 12 shops, with Crispins Shoes’ courts and a few EEE courts.
• Size 11: 9 shops but 6 ranges, and the last size for most of them.
• Size 12: 5 shops, mostly Long Tall Sally’s shoes, plus Otto and Ivy.
• Size 13: 2 shops, with a few Long Tall Sally heels, which Yours lists too.

Work and court shoes

Long Tall Sally’s pages talk of low court heels for work, as shown in search results, and it has block and kitten courts from 8 to 12. The navy block heel court, at about 5.6 cm, is the one height we recorded on a plain court at 12. Crispins Shoes is the deepest source from 10 to 11, with names such as the ELA Feature, EVA Noir and PIE Geneva. After 8 Shoes has the Kayo and Gala to 11, and its Deputy and Wisdom lace-ups are there for anyone avoiding a heel.

Below 10 there is more. Shoe Zone has a Work list of Lilley courts, loafers and brogues and Softlites wedges to 9, Pavers has a Work Shoes collection, as shown in search results, and DB Wider Fit Shoes has mid heel courts in very wide fittings. Hotter lists dressy pumps and a smart loafer at 8, as shown in search results, and formal heels to 9. Yours has court shoes but no work shoe label.

Wedding and occasion shoes

The wedding ranges we read are wide fits, and most end at 9. Sargasso and Grey runs to 9.5 in EE and extra wide, Rainbow Club and Harriet Wilde to 9, and Lace and Favour’s wide styles to 9, except the Melanie, which reaches 11 in EEE and is dyeable. Otto and Ivy’s Bridal Edit is the one to know above that, with flats and sandals up to 46, which we read as UK 12. It also lists the Taylor and Sophia slingbacks.

For occasions, Yours has occasion and wedding guest pages, as shown in search results, Crispins Shoes has an Evening Shoes collection, and Shoe Zone has Party and Prom links to 9. Long Tall Sally’s pages describe size 11 and 12 shoes for every occasion, but search results found only one Wedding Guest tag there.

Buying smart shoes in big sizes: what we learned

Most shoes at 11 to 13 are one brand

Long Tall Sally, Yours and Evans share a catalogue, and Next lists Long Tall Sally’s shoes. At plain 11 and 12, Yours and Evans show Long Tall Sally only, and Next’s heeled shoes at 11 are the same. So four shops can mean one range. If you find a shoe you like, compare delivery and returns rather than hunting for another version of it.

Heel height is often hard to find

Few pages give a figure. Crispins Shoes’ descriptions do, running from 3.5 cm to 10 cm, with most between 5 and 7.5 cm at 10 and 11. Simply Be and JD Williams have a Heel Heights filter of Low, Medium and High, and Marks and Spencer and Office have similar filters. ASOS labels styles as stiletto, block or kitten. Long Tall Sally had no stiletto at 11 or 12.

Wide feet

The widest labelled fittings we found were DB Wider Fit Shoes’ 6E-8E and Cosyfeet’s about 6E, both ending at 9. Yours, Evans, Simply Be and JD Williams list E and EEE to 9, with far fewer at 10. Above 10 there is Lace and Favour’s Melanie in EEE, and very little else. As shown in search results, Evans’ extra wide page says it goes up to 13EEE, but its heels stop at 10E and what it lists above that is Standard Fit.

Half sizes

Crispins Shoes has 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5 available, and an 11.5 listed but sold out. After 8 Shoes has 8.5 and 9.5 on many styles, and Sargasso and Grey runs to 9.5. Long Tall Sally, Yours and Evans list whole sizes only.

Go by foot length, not the EU number

A UK 10 is EU 43 at Long Tall Sally and Yours, and EU 44 at Next and Crispins Shoes. At 12 the labels run from EU 45 to EU 47. We did not find a size table at After 8 Shoes, and Otto and Ivy’s site gives UK 12 as EU 46, approximately. Long Tall Sally’s chart gives foot lengths from 262 mm at 8 to 304 mm at 13, the one chart among these shops that covers all six sizes.

Returns differ a lot

Cosyfeet gives 90 days for free UK returns, and Very, Simply Be and JD Williams give 28 free days, each with its own conditions. Shoe Zone takes unworn shoes back for 12 months, free to a store or £2.50 by post. Crispins Shoes gives 14 days at your cost, Otto and Ivy deducts £5, and Hotter deducts £2.95. For a wedding shoe, check before you order: we could not confirm Lace and Favour’s terms for the Melanie, or Rainbow Club’s or Harriet Wilde’s at all.

Why are After 8 and Otto and Ivy sizes marked as our reading?

They label shoes in EU sizes, and we read those as UK sizes. We did not find a size table at After 8, so use the sizing on its product pages. At Otto and Ivy, use its sizing on the product page too.
