Marks and Spencer’s own brand is still here, alongside Dune London and Kurt Geiger, and DB Wider Fit Shoes, Yours, Simply Be and JD Williams add wider fittings. After 8 Shoes lists an 8.5 on many UK-labelled styles, and Crispins Shoes on many of its boots and heels, though we did not read half sizes on its flats.

At size 8 you can start with the shape you want rather than the shop. Marks and Spencer, Yours, Simply Be and JD Williams each list ballet pumps, loafers and mules, and Shoe Zone has mule sandals beside its ballerinas and loafers. That will not hold for long. At 9, Marks and Spencer’s own brand has gone from these lists, and by 10 the count falls from 19 shops to seven. So this is the size to compare fit and returns, rather than simply to find something that exists.

We checked shops’ own websites on 30 and 31 October 2026. Marks and Spencer, Shoe Zone, DB Wider Fit Shoes, Crispins Shoes, After 8 Shoes and Otto and Ivy were read directly on 31 October, and Long Tall Sally’s flats filter on 30 October. Many other sites refused a direct read, so Yours, Evans, Next, Very, ASOS, Simply Be, JD Williams, Clarks, Hotter, Pavers, Cosyfeet and Dr. Martens come from their own pages as shown in search results, and for Cosyfeet, Hotter and Dr. Martens some of that text came from their US pages. After 8 Shoes and Otto and Ivy label many shoes in EU sizes, so their UK 8 is our reading. Delivery and returns terms were read on 30 October. We did not check prices, and availability changes daily.

Everything here sits on a shop’s women’s pages. Dr. Martens’ list mixes women’s-labelled and unisex loafers. Half sizes for Next, Very, Simply Be, JD Williams and Pavers come from their shoes filters, not their flats, and Crispins Shoes’ from its boots and heels. ASOS is here by inference: we could not read its size filter, so its UK 8 comes from its wide-fit flats category. “Not checked” means we did not record that detail. Delivery and returns are the standard UK terms read on 30 October 2026, as shown in search results where marked.

Ballet pumps at size 8

Shoe Zone’s Lilley ballerinas, DB Wider Fit Shoes’ Foxtail canvas pump and Campbell dress ballerina, and Otto and Ivy’s Molly all sit at 8. As shown in search results, Hotter adds the Robyn II, Lark and Grace, and Pavers a Wide Fit Flat Ballet Shoe. After 8 Shoes’ Petula Black Pump Shoes are one of few flats it had at this size.

Loafers at size 8

Loafers have the longest list of names here. Crispins Shoes has the BR Vesper, BR Wally, PB Click and ELA Beady, DB Wider Fit Shoes the Diana, Bingham and Magnolia, and Otto and Ivy the Harriet and Penny. Shoe Zone has Lilley tassel and Softlites styles. As shown in search results, Hotter’s Dorset and Pavers’ Chunky Tassel Loafers are here too.

Mules, Mary Janes and slip-ons

Marks and Spencer lists mules at 8, and Yours, Simply Be and JD Williams do too, in E and EEE, as shown in search results. Shoe Zone’s list is of mule sandals. Long Tall Sally has no separate mules page that we could find, and we saw no mules at Otto and Ivy. For a strap, Otto and Ivy’s Bonnie is a Mary Jane, and ASOS’s wide-fit flats include Mary Janes, as shown in search results. Pavers lists slip-ons beside its ballet shoes. Cosyfeet’s extra roomy styles are a different kind of shoe: at 9 we read its list as mostly touch-fastening and lace shoes rather than pumps or loafers.

What changes at 9

• Marks and Spencer: its loafer, ballet and mule lists are other brands only.
• Hotter: its women’s filter reaches 9, but we could not confirm a flat there.
• ASOS: we could not read its sizes, so it has no row at 9.
• Clarks: it had a few women’s shoes of any kind at 9 on 30 October.
• Shoe Zone: its Wide Fit shoes stop at 8, though its ballerinas and loafers go on.

How to measure your feet for size 8 flats

Long Tall Sally, Yours Clothing and Marks and Spencer all give 262 mm for a women’s UK 8, Clarks 263 mm and Shoe Zone 26.8 cm. Those figures sit close together, but the EU labels beside them do not, so compare your foot with the chart of the shop you are buying from.

1. Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel to the wall, barefoot or in the footsies you plan to wear.
2. Mark your longest toe and measure from the wall in millimetres.
3. Do both feet and use the longer figure against the chart.

Width fittings at size 8

Yours Clothing’s chart gives a joint girth of 252 mm for E and 264 mm for EEE, and Marks and Spencer’s 256 mm for Standard (D) and 265 mm for Wide (E). Long Tall Sally’s single figure is 246 mm, with no fitting stated. Across all its shoes at 8, Clarks has D, E and EE, with EE on very few. DB Wider Fit Shoes’ fittings, which we read at 9, are 2E-4E and 6E-8E, and Cosyfeet describes its shoes as about 6E. We read Otto and Ivy’s W fitting at 43W, so check it at 42.
