Quick answer: UK 9 is the last size with a broad choice of boots. We found 22 shops listing it, but many stop here. Simply Be and JD Williams list wide and extra wide knee-highs with Super Curvy calves, DB Wider Fit Shoes goes up to 6E-8E, Yours Clothing and Evans list 9E and 9EEE, and ASOS has many brands. Marks and Spencer’s 9s are all other brands, with no own-brand boot, and Clarks had very few.

Size 9 looks healthy from a distance, but it is really a turning point. The number of shops is the same as at 8, yet the choice inside many of them has shrunk. Marks and Spencer’s own boots have gone, Shoe Zone is down to Lilley and Softlites, and Clarks had very few. Nine is also the top of Dr. Martens’ women’s sizes, of Simply Be’s and JD Williams’ boots, and of the specialist wide fittings at DB Wider Fit Shoes and Cosyfeet. In return, it is a very good size for wide feet and wide calves together, because shops such as Simply Be still pair EEE fittings with their largest calves.

We checked each shop’s own website on 31 October 2026: boot listings and size filters, store data where a shop publishes it, product pages, size guides, and delivery and returns pages. ASOS’s size 9 filter was read directly. Long Tall Sally, Yours, Evans, Next, Very, Simply Be, JD Williams, Hotter, Pavers, Debenhams, Dune London and DuoBoots would not open for us, so their details come from their own pages as shown in search results. After 8 Shoes and Otto and Ivy label boots in EU sizes, so their UK 9 is our reading. Clarks’ filter was read on 30 October, as were delivery and returns terms. We did not check prices, and availability changes daily.

• Simply Be and JD Williams: their filters run to 9, as shown in search results, so this is the last size for Super Curvy knee-highs.
• Hotter, Pavers and Dune London: 9 is the top of their ranges, as shown in search results.
• DB Wider Fit Shoes and Cosyfeet: their women’s boots stop here, which makes 9 the last size for 6E fittings.
• Clarks: very few women’s boots at 9 on 30 October, and only men’s items above it.
• Shoe Zone: its women’s boots end here, and 10 to 12 in the filter hold one unisex snow boot.
• Dr. Martens: 9 is the end of its women’s sizes, though unisex styles go on.

Knee-high boots and wide calves at size 9

Nine is the last size at which knee-highs are easy to find. Marks and Spencer’s knee-high boots stop here, apart from Hunter wellies, and its 9s also take in over-the-knee, biker, mid-calf and platform styles from other brands. Shoe Zone has black buckle and heeled knee-highs at 9. Simply Be and JD Williams pair Extra Wide EEE feet with Super Curvy calves, and DuoBoots sizes the calf in centimetres. Yours’ chart gives calf figures of 424 mm for E and 466 mm for EEE. Hotter is the exception: we found no knee-high among its size 9 boots.

How to measure your feet for size 9 boots

Long Tall Sally and Yours Clothing give 271 mm for a women’s UK 9, Marks and Spencer and Clarks 272 mm, Shoe Zone 27.6 cm and Dr. Martens 28 cm. For Marks and Spencer, Clarks and Shoe Zone, 9 is the last row of the women’s chart.

1. Put your heel against a wall on a sheet of paper, wearing the socks or tights you will wear with the boots.
2. Mark where your longest toe ends.
3. Measure wall to mark in millimetres on each foot, and take the longer one.
4. For a wide fit, wrap a soft tape round the joints at the base of your toes.

Width fittings at size 9

Yours Clothing’s chart gives a joint girth of 258 mm for E and 270 mm for EEE, and Marks and Spencer’s gives 262 mm for Standard (D) and 272 mm for Wide (E). Long Tall Sally’s single figure is 252 mm, and Dr. Martens gives a foot width of 9.7 cm. ASOS lists UK 9 Wide across several brands, with a few UK 9 Extra Wide. Yours, Evans, Simply Be and JD Williams list E and EEE, and DB Wider Fit Shoes goes on to 6E and 6E-8E, its fittings at this size being wide only.
